Until it Isn’t

It’s the small moments. The nothing moments. The in between spaces when our hearts sometimes sink, and we are pulled deeply beneath the surface before we realize where we have gone. It’s the quiet breaths; the soft exhales that expel our happiness into a puddle of mess onto the floor before us. It happens when we least expect it. It happens when we are busy doing other things, but then suddenly everything we have worked so hard to hold in comes crashing out, leaving us empty and alone inside. It’s unexpected, but comfortingly familiar. It is what it is, until it is no more. And then we carry on, usually with no one the wiser.
